For most people, cooking daily can seem a difficult task. But Liberian-Australian chef not for Ethew Quoibia. The Melbourne -based chef proved that for those who prefer to cook, there is no time in the kitchen. He claimed the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon (personal). Quoibia was born during the time of struggle. His family moved to Ivory Coast, Ghana and later, Australia. Throughout his life, he dreamed of doing something great, an opportunity that came with the Guinness World Record. Chef added another wing to his hat by sharing the dishes of West Africa with the people of Melbourne. Whoever wanted to try Liberian food or any other delicious West African food, welcomed in his kitchen for six days.

Some dishes were Liberian-style Zolof rice, cassava leaves, and individual stews and soup, with vegetables such as black pepper, okra and cabbage with white rice. Many dishes were inspired by Nigerian, Asian and Australian cooking. For Avet Quoibia, the road was not easy for the Guinness World Record. The organization chooses participants for endowed-based titles based on an applicant-key basis. However, the Liberian-Australian chef’s determination and grit impressed the GWR team, and was selected for achievement.

The next two months of preparation came. Quoibia discussed his views with an event planner, an assistant chef, his church and a team of kitchen volunteers. He also launched a gofundme for Crowdsource money for the kitchen supply. Items such as semolina flour, cassava, tomato, pounded yama, and rice bags were required in bulk for challenge.

In February 2024, everything was set. Quoibia started with strength, set to defeat the previous records of 119 hours, 57 minutes and 16 seconds. For this, he will have to cook for more than five consecutive days. While the applicants are allowed to have a 20 -minute break once every four hours, Ethevite Quoibia felt that her resting place at a distance of five minutes, it means that her brake would be spent to go and leave for 10 minutes of. She was so engrossed in her cooking that Quoibia did not realize even when she scored a record on 19 February 2024. “Honestly, I was not in mental state to know where I (time-wise) was going. I was just going until anyone made an announcement from my church and attracted his attention on time,” she said.
