The United Arab Emirates is a land of contrasts, where the state-of-the-art skyscrapers of Dubai hug the desert sands. But a little further north, in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, you’ll find a place that feels refreshingly different. Ras Al Khaimah, or RAK as it is known to locals, boasts a wilder, more adventurous atmosphere. Here, thousand mountains pierce the sky, and the world’s longest zipline lets you soar over dramatic valleys. RAK is also steeped in history, with ancient ruins and fortresses telling stories of times gone by.
My recent trip to RAK was all about embracing this adventurous spirit. From climbing the heights of Jebel Jais, the tallest mountain in the UAE, to climbing the world’s longest zipline, my days were filled with heart-pounding adventures. But I also looked for a place to rest and refresh after a day of adrenaline-packed activities. That’s where Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island comes in.
Located on a private island off the coast of RAK, Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island is a haven of tranquility. As soon as you step out the door, you are greeted by the sparkling Arabian Sea and the lush greenery of the resort’s gardens. My room was a luxurious oasis, with a private balcony overlooking the beach. It was the perfect place to have my morning coffee and watch the sunrise paint the sky in vibrant colors.
But Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island is much more than just a pretty face. The resort has a fantastic range of dining options to suit every taste. To get a taste of the local flavors, I headed to Boons, the resort’s European restaurant. There, I enjoyed an impressive cuisine that included dishes like moules frites, cote de boeuf and a little crepes suzette to finish. In the evening, I enjoyed a more intimate dining experience at the resort’s beach restaurant, Ula. The freshest catches of the day are transformed into culinary masterpieces here, while enjoying spectacular views of the Arabian Sea in the background.
No visit to Ras Al Khaimah would be complete without enjoying shisha, and Ula’s Bar provided the perfect setting for it. As I puffed on my shisha and sipped the refreshing mint tea, I watched the sun sink below the horizon, casting a magical glow over the resort. The gentle lapping of the waves and the cool night breeze created a truly tranquil atmosphere.
Mövenpick Resort’s world-class facilities provide the ideal place to relax. The expansive swimming pool, pristine private beach and rejuvenating spa ensured relaxation was always within reach. I spent my days lounging by the pool, swimming in the crystal-clear waters and indulging in rejuvenating spa treatments. In the evening, the resort’s stylish bar serves handcrafted cocktails in a lively atmosphere.
A perfect blend of adventure and relaxation My time in Ras Al Khaimah was a perfect balance of heart-pounding adventure and luxurious relaxation. The emirate’s stunning landscapes, rich cultural history and unique experiences leave a lasting impression. Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island offers an idyllic sanctuary to recharge, Ras Al Khaimah truly offers both adventure and luxury. Whether you’re looking for adventure, exploring history, or simply relaxing in a spectacular setting, Ras Al Khaimah offers something for every traveller.
