Time magazine recently unveiled its selection of the ‘greatest places in the world’ for 2025. Three Indian establishments – two hotels and one restaurant – made it in this prestigious list. No one else is the latter, besides Papa Ki – starred by the acclaimed Pak Hotspot Executive Chef Hussain Shahzad in Mumbai. The intimate 12-seater restaurant is “designed to feel like a private dinner party at Chef’s house.” 13-The menu tasting menu are familiar with Indian tastes through a sophisticated creative lens incorporating global techniques and traditional ingredients. Each dish is a reflection of chef Hussain’s journey and food experience is further enhanced by individual touch. Papa Hunger Ink Hospitality is the newest venture – the famous team behind Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, Bombay Sweet Shop and Veronica. Papa is kept at Veronica’s sandwich shop in Bandra West.

‘Worlds Greatest Place’ 2025, in his announcement of Time Magazine, Time magazine noted that Papa’s “became one of the hottest tables in India within a year of inauguration. The name pays tribute to Shahzad’s Guru, the Guru of Shahzad, the late influential Indian-American chef Floid Cardos, which is a positive Papa-Jez”. It also mentions signatures in the restaurant: “Bugs made in highlights, marinated with weaver ants in wild rabit meat and grilled on charcoal; a rasam, or pepperry south Indian broth, fine trout and fragrant with watermelon;

How was the list of time magazine compiled?

To select 100 of the ‘greatest places in the world’, Time magazine sought nomination from the authors and contributors from his global network, as well as through open applications, looking for destinations that provide new and attractive experiences. List places may include hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and more.

Last year, two Indian food installations made it in the list of Time Magazine’s ‘World’s Greatest Place’ – Manam Chocolate in Hyderabad and Nar in Himachal Pradesh. The former refers to a chocolate factory and experience center, while the latter is a special restaurant located in the mountains of Kasauli.
