The road to love is open again

The Route of Love, a picturesque route stretching for one kilometre between the charming villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola, has long been a symbol of love and passion. Couples from all over the world come to this charming route to exchange vows, carve their initials in stone and enjoy the unique beauty of the Ligurian coastline.

And now, love is in the air once again, as the route reopens to travellers from August 9. To manage the expected influx of visitors, authorities have implemented a reservation system. While locals can enjoy unrestricted access, tourists must book their visit in advance. Each visitor must buy a five-euro (EUR 5) ticket, which allows you a guided tour along the route and entry to the Castle of Riomaggiore. This measure ensures a lasting and enjoyable experience for all.

Writing on the walls was previously tolerated, but it is now banned and visitors must pay to walk the trail. The path is accessible with the purchase of a daily Cinque Terre card, which will give you access to all footpaths with a top up. According to the report, there will be time-scheduled guided tours every 15 minutes with groups of no more than 10 people.
