Aniruddhacharya Maharaj Ji, popularly known as ‘Pookie Baba’, is a spiritual guru who has gone viral on various social media platforms as his witty teachings and reaction reels have taken the internet by storm. Recently Pookie Baba talked about a hack that can help in regularizing periods. In the video, she talked about the problem of irregular periods in women and said that drinking warm water with desi ghee first thing in the morning can help control it. He further said that eating it will not only make periods regular but will also provide relief from period pain. Menstrual pain is often caused by blood clots; He told that drinking desi ghee with warm water can effectively address this.
This video has divided the netizens into two parts as some people agree with him and some do not. The comments section is full of divided reactions where one user commented “I’m a doctor… according to me don’t try this advice, giving wrong advice.” At least don’t fool people in the name of God, don’t become a doctor, be a Baba, remain a Baba. (Don’t spread misinformation and fool people in the name of God. You are a spiritual guru, stick to that only and don’t try to become a doctor),” one comment read.
Another user commented that he’s tried it and it really works – “I’ve tried it it really works.”
Ghee is rich in healthy fats and essential nutrients like vitamins A, D, E and K, which help lubricate the digestive system, promote smooth bowel movements and provide relief from constipation. It is believed that this remedy detoxifies the body. Ghee acts as a carrier to flush out toxins (ama) accumulated in the digestive tract, while warm water facilitates this cleansing process. Regular consumption can increase metabolism and improve gut health. But does this detox drink actually help regulate periods?
Dr. Aastha Dayal Director-Obstetrics & Gynecology, CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram shares that “Warm water taken with a spoon of ghee is considered by many to regulate periods. However, there has been little scientific evidence to validate this particular claim. Nonetheless, ghee contains a lot of healthy fats, and it enriches digestion and hormone function. This may indirectly benefit menstrual health. However, it should not take the place of medical advice or treatment for irregular menstruation.
Dr. Dayal shares some home remedies that can help in regularizing periods:
1. Ginger Tea: Ginger tea can be drunk every day to improve blood flow and maintain a balanced menstrual cycle.
2. Cinnamon: Adding a little cinnamon to warm milk helps in keeping the hormones in proper condition.
3. Aloe Vera: Taking fresh aloe vera gel mixed with honey on an empty stomach helps in hormonal balance.
4. Papaya: Ripe green papaya can increase uterine contractions and help regulate menstruation.
5. Healthy Lifestyle: Regular exercise, balanced diet and proper stress management play an important role.
