Every year on the occasion of Deepotsav, the banks of Saryu River in Ayodhya are decorated with millions of lamps. We recommend visiting the ghats on the eve of Diwali, i.e. 30th October, and witness another record-breaking number of lamps lighting up the night. You can also rent a boat and see the view along the river.

Hanuman Garhi
Situated on a hill, this ancient temple dedicated to Hanuman offers panoramic views of Ayodhya. Local people tell how Lord Hanuman lived here to protect Ayodhya. This temple has a beautiful idol of Lord Hanuman in child form sitting in the lap of his mother, Mata Anjani, which makes this temple a popular pilgrimage site, especially during Diwali when devotees come to seek blessings.

Gulab Bari is a rose garden and mausoleum in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. It houses the tomb of Shuja-ud-Daula, the third Nawab of Awadh. Known for its beautiful roses and peaceful atmosphere, Gulab Bari is both a place of worship and a cultural centre. Legend has it that this monument is connected to a well in Lucknow and was once a hiding place for the heirs of the Nawab.

Nageshwarnath Temple
Located on Ram Ki Paadi in Ayodhya, this temple is believed to have been founded by Kush, son of Lord Ram and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Legend has it that it was built for a snake-girl who loved Kusha after finding the lost armlet while bathing in the Saryu River. The temple has been rebuilt several times, with the current structure dating back to 1750. Shivratri is a major festival here, which attracts thousands of devotees.

Dashrath Mahal
Located a short distance from Hanuman Garhi, the historic Dasharatha Palace was the residence of King Dasharatha, and is where Rama spent his childhood with his family. Inside the palace there is a temple of Lord Rama, Lakshman and Sita. This palace displays intricate architecture and is a must visit for those interested in history.
