The crib is one of the most important depictions of the birth of Jesus. Most of the people across India use ceramic figurines to depict the birth of Jesus Christ in the manger. In Goa, you will find live cribs in different parts of the city. The Baby Jesus with Mother Mary and Joseph, the three wise men, the shepherds and the animals in the manger are presented in the most unrealistic way.
Christmas Eve
Just as memorable as New Year’s Eve, Christmas Eve is also celebrated with great joy. From the midnight Christmas carols in every church to the Christmas Eve parties happening in every restaurants and clubs – this time is probably the best.
Christmas dishes
Every state has its own special dishes for Christmas. In Nagaland, they prepare smoked pork – a traditional dish. In Assam, there is khar – a combination of red rice, beaten pulses and raw papaya.
Christmas decorations
This is the most important thing! Lights and Christmas decorations are used to make some prominent places attractive. This star is used as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem indicating the birth of a new king and led the three wise men to the manger where Jesus was born. Christmas trees are decorated with lights, silver bells, Christmas wreaths and many other things. You will find many of these things in the Christmas market.
