A video showing a British man selling vegetables at an outdoor market has attracted a lot of attention on Instagram. He is seen trying to attract customers by calling out the original names of some of the produce in front of him including garlic, bhindi (ladyfinger) and bitter gourd (bitter gourd). For example, he is heard saying that garlic costs 1 pound. The way he shouts out names in an almost sing-song style reminds me of hawkers in Indian markets. This sentiment resonated with many Instagram users. Watch the full viral video below to understand:

The video has received more than 3 million views so far. Although many people reacted to this by comparing it to Indian vendors, some pointed out that the British man was trying to copy Nepali vendors. Read some comments below:
âHe definitely knows the pattern.â
âThis man probably came to India.â
âIndians are behaving badly with the British.â
âGet the rate right brother, itâs so expensive.â (âTell me the right price, itâs too expensive.â)
âHe knows his target audience.â
âActually, they are doing this for the Nepali community. These scenes are from Aldershot, which like Southall in the UK is also called Gorkha Town or Mini Nepal. Retired Gorkhas and their families have settled in Aldershot. So they say no There are âLahsanâ but âLasunâ which is a Nepali name of garlic.â
âHeâs speaking Nepali, guys.â
Earlier, another viral video had caught the attention of desi food lovers. While exploring the streets of London, a food vlogger came across a stall called Jhalmuri Express, where a British vendor had recreated the classic Kolkata snack. The stall had an Indian-style trolley filled with steel and plastic containers. In the clip, we can see the seller expertly preparing Jhalmudi. Click here to read the full story.
