An X post has raised concerns about water pollution, safe drinking water and filtration systems in Noida and other cities. An X user has posted a picture of what he claims is a three-month-old RO filter used in Noida. The item, which appears to be from a domestic water purifier, has a brownish exterior. This shows that a lot of sediment has accumulated in this filter over time. Near the edges, the colour gets darker and spots of dirt particles can be seen. Take a look below:

One x user wrote, âThis is a pre-sediment filter, not a RO filter. Your water filter is an RO system, which typically has 6-7 layers of filtration (reverse osmosis is one of them), plus an external pre-sedimentation filter which catches the largest particles (mud/iron).â Another clarified, âMaybe he doesnât know but this isnât a pre-RO filter, itâs a second stage and shouldnât be this clogged in 3 months.â
Here is how some other X users reacted to it:

Speaking of water filtration, a recent study suggests that boiling and filtering your water before drinking it can reduce microplastics. To test this process, researchers added nanoplastics and microplastics (NMP) to water before boiling it and filtering out the precipitate. They found that in some cases, up to 90% of nanoplastics and microplastics were removed. Click here to read the full story.
