The entire country is in mourning due to the demise of industrialist Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 9, 2024, at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was 86 years old. Ratan Tata was one of the most respected industrialists and philanthropists globally. Despite overseeing more than 30 companies operating in more than 100 countries, Mr Tata led a simple life. Social media is filled with old pictures, interviews, quotes and stories of the legendary industrialist. A viral video circulating on the internet is of the business titan’s 84th birthday.
On his 84th birthday on 28 December 2021, a video of his birthday celebration surfaced on social media. There was nothing ostentatious about this party, no glamor or grandeur. Even the cake was not a cake, but the simplest cupcake without any icing or decorations. In the clip, we see Ratan Tata celebrating his birthday with Shantanu Naidu, general manager of the office of former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata. Mr Tata lights the candle while Naidu sings the birthday song for him and pats his back. Then he eats the vanilla cupcake and smiles.
