The turning point came when his son raised questions about his energy levels and the history of diabetes in the family. âHe saw the deteriorating health of his grandparents and asked if we too might face similar problems. It was a warning to us,â recalls Himanshu.
Once an active family that loved hiking and bicycling, the stresses of life had pushed them into a cycle of unhealthy eating and sedentary habits. Determined to regain control, he challenged himself to make 2024 one to remember by striving for his best physical and mental performance.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced along the way?
Balancing a challenging career, raising a son and making fitness a priority was no easy feat. Himanshu became a retail employee turned fitness coach, while Chinchak worked as a senior manager in a chemical MNC.
âWith irregular work hours and constant travelling, it was difficult to find time for workouts. Social events and food temptations were constant obstacles,â Chinchak shared.
The couple also faced the ups and downs of weight loss which tested their patience and resolve. âWe created a vision board with short-term and long-term goals to keep ourselves motivated. Seeing those visual reminders helped us get through the tough times,â says Himanshu.
How did you stay motivated during your weight loss journey?
The support of each other and their son played an important role in staying motivated. âOur 9-year-old son became our biggest cheerleader, reminding us to stay consistent with our workouts. Their enthusiasm for healthy food is the best reward for our efforts,â Himanshu says proudly.
The coupleâs journey was not about a temporary solution but a lifestyle change. âSeeing our son fill his plate with protein and vegetables feels like a real victory,â Chinchak shares.

The cornerstone of his transformation was a change in his diet and exercise routine. Coach Hemant Rao helped the couple in every possible way. From diet to exercise regime, the couple was under Hemantâs guidance, âFor us, the most important change was adopting quantitative nutrition,â explains Himanshu. The couple focused on a balanced diet with lean proteins, plant-based options, and controlled portions of carbohydrates like rice and sourdough bread. âWe also made salads a staple, enjoying a vibrant mix of leafy greens with optimal dressings,â says Chinchak.
On the fitness front, Himanshu, who has been strength training for years, guided Chinchak during the transition from bodyweight exercises to structured strength training.
âWe followed a program emphasizing compound movements like squats and deadlifts while mastering proper form to avoid injuries. Professional guidance was crucial in reaching our goals,â says Himanshu.

The couple faced setbacks, from moments of low motivation to unflattering comments from their social circle.
âWe turned to fitness podcasts, motivational books, and online communities for inspiration. âSurrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals helped rekindle our passion,â says Chinchak.
