The event was inaugurated by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food, Distribution and New & Renewable Energy along with Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Railways; and Shri Chirag Paswan, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries on September 19, 2024.

WFI 2024 was attended by over 1500 exhibitors, 20 country pavilions and 809 buyers and over 2000 foreign delegates. The food event saw participation from many food brands like Britannia Industries, Everest Foods, PepsiCo, Anmol Industries and Haldiram’s.
Three major announcements were made during the event: inauguration of food manufacturing units at 67 locations, seed capital assistance of ₹245 crore to women entrepreneurs, and credit-linked assistance to 25,000 beneficiaries for micro projects. Amidst these announcements, the message of the government being ‘vocal for local’ also resonated in everyone’s mind. In line with this idea, Borges, a popular name in the field of Mediterranean food products, launched its ‘Made in India’ – Borges Olive Leaf Infusion. This drink is said to be a caffeine-free healthy drink option made from olive tree leaves.
The olive tree contains olonium*, a phenolic compound found in the oil of olive leaves and its fruit. This compound is known for its health benefits such as reducing stress and controlling blood pressure. This new extract is indigenously produced in Rajasthan and is said to provide twice the antioxidants and other health benefits of green tea. At World Food India 2024, Borges showcased four flavors of its Olive Leaf Infusion—Classic, Lemongrass, Basil and Mint.
Other highlights included the promotion of recycled PET bottles for carbonated beverages by PepsiCo and sustainable packing solutions by Tetra Pak.
