In India, more people are now trying to live a healthy life. While many join the gym or try to remain active, experts say that focusing on overall welfare is equally important-both physical and mental. Therefore, sometimes, a small change can create a big difference. Even simple something can affect your health positively as a walk in the park, cycling around your neighborhood, or playing a game of cricket with your friends. So, how do we take that first step? This World Health Day, we came in contact with experts who say that today and why you should start your fitness journey.

“Fitness is not optional,” experts say

Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Physicians, Dr. Pradimana Tembekar believes that fitness is often one of the most unseen aspects of welfare.

“People often say that they do not have time for fitness – but what they really are saying is that they do not prioritize it,” Dr. Tembakar explains. “As we enter our 30 and 40s, our metabolism slows down, our bones weaken, and our energy levels fall. That is why being active – even in small ways – so important – so important.”
According to him, it is not about killing perfection. “You just need stability,” he says. “Start small every day, stretch in the morning, play badminton with a friend once a week. Gradually, your mindset changes. You become strong, more concentrated and mentally difficult.”

Do not leave the basics: Nutrition and hydration cases

Being active is just one piece of puzzle. What we eat and drink also play an important role in our physical and mental health.

Kalinga Lancers Sports Team, a physiotherapist Dr. Bodhisattva Das says that it is time to reconsider how we see the diet. “Your diet is basically the energy you take every day. It requires the correct balance of protein, vitamins, carbohydrates and other essential nutrients,” they say.
“But don’t forget the hydration,” he warns. “If you are not drinking enough water, then your digestive is suffering. You can feel bloated, tired, or get random pain and cramps. Something simple can make you feel so much better as you increase your water intake.”

How can games focus discipline and focus

Sports are not only about physical movement – they are also teachers of life. From time management to discipline, playing a game can promote personal and professional development.

“Sports such as cricket and table tennis help improve hand-eye coordination, which actually makes daily activities easier and safe,” a fitness coach, Savio D’Suza. “Simple activities such as walking or running can have a major impact. In particular, walking, endurance, is great for the creation of heart health and muscle strength.”

Playing a game is secret weapon against mental health issues

Let’s face it – we live in stressful times. But do you know that playing game can be one of the best ways to defeat anxiety and improve sleep?

Tiping into moderate to high-rich exercises helps release endorphins, those “happy hormones” that promote mood and reduce stress. It can also regulate your sleep cycle, so that you sleep fast and sleep for a long time.
Playing games like football, cricket or volleyball can also promote your social life – the way to prove another way to reduce the feelings of anxiety and depression. In fact, many studies suggest that regular exercise may be effective as an anti -seditious drug for some people.
Nasir Ali, founder and CEO of Galant Sports, said, “We need to create an environment that encourage people to move,” they say. “Better infrastructure means more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to engage in physical activities.”
