Next to Ramadan, King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited Londonâs prestigious Indian restaurant, Darjeeling Express, owned by British-Indian Chef Asma Khan owned. On 26 February, Khan shared a video on Instagram, showing a royal pair inside the restaurant kitchen, actively packing date and biryani for donations in local hospitals. The video starts with King Charles and Queen Camilla standing in front of a large pot of Biryani. At one point, the king is seen breathing the aroma of the dish cooked freshly.

As the restaurant employees help the royal couple packing the biryani and the dates, King Charles can be heard asking, âCan we take something?â The king and queen also appear to enjoy food and culinary tradition. In the caption of the video, Khan mentioned that, looking at the motion and efficiency of the king at the packing dates, he was told that he could work there every year. For this, he replied, âI can be a past from the date of my selling.â

Who is Asma Khan?
Born in July 1969 in Kolkata, Asma Khan is a British-Indian Chef, Restaurant and Author, known as the founder of the award-winning London-based restaurant Darjeeling Express. According to the official website of Kingâs College London, she moved to the UK in 1991 after getting married. He studied the law at Kingâs College London and completed his PhD in the British Constitutional Law. However, his real passion was always food.
Khanâs restaurant is observed for all its female kitchens, mainly included South Asian immigrants. This unique approach not only provides authentic Indian cuisine, but also strengthens women lacking formal culinary training. His contribution to the Pak world is widely recognized. In 2024, he was painted one of the 100 most influential people of time.
