British couple jets off to Italy for lunch "It’s cheaper than going to London"

Who knew that enjoying lunch in Milan, Italy’s hub of fashion and architecture, would be cheaper than flying to London for a British couple? A woman from England who always wanted to visit Milan realized that a day trip to the Italian city for lunch and walking around would cost her less than buying a ticket. Sharon Summer, 49, planned the trip with her boyfriend Dan Puddifoot, 36, reports the Daily Star. The couple, from Cranfield, England, spent 14 euros for their flight to Milan, while Sharon said a ticket to London would cost 35-50 euros.

“It’s cheaper than going to London and that’s how I sold it to my boyfriend. I go to London quite often and a ticket costs between 35 and 50 euros there,” Sharon was quoted as saying by the Daily Star. “I’ve always wanted to go to Milan. I heard it’s possible to do it in one day. We did everything we wanted to do. It’s really easy to get around in Milan, there’s a train from the airport to the centre which costs less than ten euros.”

Instead of buying expensive tickets for the hour-and-a-half trip to London, the couple traveled an hour and a half to Stansted Airport in England. They flew on an early morning flight to Milan and reached the city in about three hours. After that, they boarded a train to the center for less than 10 euros.

The couple went to an Italian restaurant and enjoyed club sandwiches and pink lemonade. “We climbed the Duomo di Milano and had lunch at the Dome restaurant. I had a fabulous pink lemonade with marshmallows. We just explored. We walked 20,000 steps,” Sharon explained.

The couple toured the city and then took a train to the airport, and returned home at night.
