US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior called Chinese “poison” during a press conference. He urged the Americans to completely cut the sugar from their diet, although they admitted that a complete ban could not be possible.

“I don’t think we are going to be able to eliminate sugar, but we need to give clear information to Americans how much sugar is in their food and how much they should actually consume, which is zero,” Kennedy said.

He said that the government would help people to avoid strong labeling laws and new federal diet guidelines, which have been associated with prolonged obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

“Americans don’t know what they are eating. We are going to inform them,” he said.

Kennedy also said that the government plans to approve the last eight synthetic food dye in the US by 2026.

This step comes in the midst of increasing concerns about the protection of petroleum-based food colors, which is associated with behavioral issues such as activation and attention problems in children in some studies.

“American children are rapidly living in a toxic soup of synthetic chemicals,” said FDA Commissioner Marti Makeri. He said that with planned changes, the FDA would remove all petroleum-based colors from the food supply.
