Are burger buns bad for health?

Traditional burger buns, which are primarily made from refined wheat, offer little nutritional value other than serving as a base for your patty. While they may be soft and fluffy, they can spike blood sugar levels and lack essential nutrients.

What are the healthiest buns for burgers?

So, what’s the better option? Choose buns made from whole grains such as whole wheat or brown rice. These contain fiber, which aids digestion and helps control blood sugar levels. You can also try buns made from cauliflower or almond flour for a low-carb option.

How to make healthy burger buns without maida | Hari Moong Dal Burger Bun Recipe:

Soak green moong dal for 6-7 hours, till it becomes soft. Drain the excess water and mix the soaked dal with water, olive oil and salt to make a smooth paste. In a separate bowl, mix psyllium husk, baking soda and vinegar. Gently add this mixture to the dal paste. Leave the batter for 5-10 minutes; it will thicken due to the psyllium husk.

With greased hands, shape the batter into small balls and place them on a greased baking tray. Bake or air fry at 220 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Allow the buns to cool completely before using them for burgers.

Remember, do not add too much water while blending to make perfect moong dal buns. The batter should be a little loose initially, but will thicken upon resting. Baking times may vary, so keep an eye on the buns to ensure they do not burn. For more flavour, consider adding herbs like coriander or cumin.

enjoy!
