There is no lack of delicious snacks in Gujarati cuisine, and fasting vada – also known as Farli Patis or Buff Promise – is one of the best. This crisp, deeply fried happiness is a fasting favorite, especially during Navratri, Ekadashi and Mahashivratri. Made with a flavor-pack stuffing of mashed potatoes and coconut, herbs and dried fruits, it is the correct balance of crunch and comfort. A mixture of ingredients such as sesame seeds, peanuts, fennel seeds, sago flour, deserted salt, and peanut oil makes it a light snack yet, which is ideal for anyone who wants something crispy while fasting.
