The organization said that for the guilty children’s serial killer Lucy Latbi, lawyers have applied to the Review Commission (CCRC) to investigate his case as a possible abortion of justice.

Latbi is now serving a prison sentence after convicting 35, seven infants and attempting to kill seven others – in which he attacked twice.

All crimes took place between June 2015 and June 2016, while the nurse was working in a newborn unit in Czeter Hospital’s count.

The CCRC confirmed that “an initial application in relation to the case of Ms. latebi was received, and work has begun to assess the application”.

It was announced a few minutes before a press conference organized by his legal team, where they claim a panel of experts on the care of newborns, which they say they would present “significant new medical evidence”.

A CCRC spokesperson said: “We know that there is a great deal of speculation and comment around the case of Lucy Latbi, there is much more than parties with only a partial approach to the evidence.

“We ask that everyone recalls families affected by events at the Counts of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.”

The spokesperson said it was not the CCRC’s job to “determine innocence or crime in a case”, and that it was “a case for the courts”.

The body said that it would now assess the application and determine whether there were new evidence that presented a proper opportunity of a punishment.
