Malaika Arora has entered the world of hospitality with the launch of a new restaurant ‘Scarlet House’ in Bandra, Mumbai. The actress, known for her success across various industries, has collaborated with her son Arhaan Khan and restaurateur Dhawal Udeshi, the duo behind popular spots like Gigi and Lyla, to bring this exciting new culinary venture to life. Opening on December 3, Scarlet House promises a blend of old-world charm and contemporary flair.

Located in the picturesque Pali village, Scarlet House is housed in a 90-year-old Indo-Portuguese bungalow with a rich heritage and rustic ambience that adds to its appeal. The bold red exterior of the restaurant contrasts perfectly with the quaint neighbourhood, instantly making it a standout in Bandra’s dining scene.
In a recent Instagram post, Malaika Arora announced the venture by sharing a picture together. The two were photographed in the restaurant’s hallway, wearing matching jackets emblazoned with “Scarlet House”. Malaika captioned the post: “First time collaboration @scarlethousebombay.”

Talking about Scarlet House, Malaika shared her vision of the place in an interview with Vogue India. “I wanted a space where you could just be, without feeling like someone was pulling a chair out from under you,” she explained, emphasizing the comfortable yet sophisticated atmosphere she wanted to create. The restaurant has been designed as a casual yet stylish space for social gatherings, with eclectic furniture, textured walls and rich color tones that respect the heritage of the building while providing a modern and trendy vibe.

Another highlight is the menu at Scarlet House, which includes an exciting mix of classic and innovative dishes. The food is designed to evoke nostalgia while adding a refreshing twist to familiar flavours. A special section of the menu, titled “Malla’s Favorites”, includes some of Malaika’s own dishes, such as paneer thecha and baked fish.
For Malaika, launching Scarlett House with her son felt like a natural step. “We both love food and entertaining people,” they shared. “We have traveled the world together, often returning with recipes we want to recreate at home. So, starting a restaurant felt like the most organic thing.”
With its retro feel, bold design and a menu reflecting both innovation and tradition, Scarlet House is set to become a must-see culinary destination in Mumbai.
