A video showing a vlogger’s visit to a McDonald’s near Rome has gone viral for a unique reason. The video, shared by content creator @kassidy.and.james, calls it the “world’s scariest McDonald’s.” Curious to know why? The outlet was considered spooky because it is located above an ancient site, where skeletal remains can still be seen! You read that right.

In the video, the vlogger turns the camera around to show us what lies beneath the McDonald’s in Frattocchi near Rome. She first shows us the exterior and then enters inside. Ancient underground structures are visible through the transparent glass floor. She then says, “Get ready for this” a few times before zooming in on something with a familiar shape. She clarifies that what we are looking at is a skeleton.

In the caption, he wrote, “The McDonald’s building in the town of Frattocchi, about 12 miles south of Rome, has a very unique feature. When it was being constructed in 2014, they found a 2000-year-old Roman road with three skeletons on it!! The road was built in the 2nd century BC, and the section underneath what is now the fast-food restaurant is about 150 feet long and seven feet wide.

The amazing thing is that McDonald’s actually contributed over $320,000 to the excavation and archaeologists believe this road connects to the Appian Way, which was believed to be one of the busiest roads in ancient Rome!!”

Although this reel was first shared in October 2023, it continues to be a hot topic online. It has recently generated fresh interest among people. Do you want to know what users think about this ‘scary’ McDonald’s? Read some reactions below:

“This is not the skeleton of McDonald’s. McDonald’s was built over 2,000 years ago on top of an archaeological site. What you see is an old basement from the Roman period and the streets and walls of ancient Rome.”

“He tried to make a face.”

“There’s not a skeleton in a McDonald’s, but there’s a McDonald’s in that skeleton’s crib! I’m pretty sure it was there first.”

“In Italy we have so many archaeological sites that we actually have to build around them.”

“As a citizen of Rome, all I can say is that if we didn’t build in places like this we probably wouldn’t be here. Rome is full of things like this everywhere, even when they repair the roads sometimes they find archaeological sites. It’s really great to live so close to history.”

“The skinniest (or thinnest) person to ever walk into McDonald’s.”

“In American McDonald’s you’ll find a rat skeleton.”

“Everyone is talking about zombies and I’m still stuck on ‘open the door please.'”
