McDonald’s Corp. is spending $100 million in an effort to revive sales and support franchisees after a serious E. coli outbreak turned diners away, local media report.

In a memo sent to employees and franchisees, McDonald’s said Quarter Pounder burgers with chopped onions are now back on menus across the country and the company is planning a 35-year-long campaign in marketing and advertising, Xinhua reported Friday, citing Bloomberg News. Investing millions of dollars.

Additionally, the company is spending $65 million on programs that support franchisees, such as moratorium on rents and royalties.

Foot traffic and sales have declined since the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in October it was investigating an outbreak of E. coli linked to fresh-cut onions in McDonald’s Quarter Pounder burgers.

In response to the outbreak, which killed one and sickened more than 100 people, the chain removed Quarter Pounders from 20 percent of its more than 13,000 U.S. stores.
