Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of India’s leading Greek yogurt brand Epigamia, passed away unexpectedly due to cardiac arrest at the age of 42. The news was confirmed by Epigamia’s parent company Drums Food International, sending the food and startup community into shock.
Cardiac arrest, the sudden cessation of heart function, has become a cause for concern for young adults. This life-threatening condition, once associated with older adults, is now killing people in their 30s and 40s.
Cardiac arrest, a medical emergency in which the heart suddenly stops beating, has become a silent killer among adults under 50. It was once thought to be a condition primarily affecting older people, but has now entered younger demographics as well. According to a study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in 2023, cases of sudden cardiac arrest among people aged 35-50 years have increased by more than 13 percent globally in the last decade.
Why are the lives of youth in danger?

Why are cases of cardiac arrest increasing?
Dr. David Friedman, a leading cardiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, explains, “A primary reason for the increase in cardiac arrest in young adults is the lack of early screening for heart conditions.
