Selena Gomez is fed up with plastic surgery allegations.
Selena Gomez Once again, speculation has been put to rest that she has undergone surgery for cosmetic reasons.
The 32-year-old singer — who has repeatedly denied plastic surgery rumors over the past few years — was active on TikTok over the weekend and chatted with a video in which content creator Marisa Barrionuevo was asked if Gomez had work done. Barrionuevo is a physician assistant at a plastic surgery office and has a series in which she shares side-by-side photos of celebrities before and after receiving cosmetic treatments.
In his original video from 2023, the social media creator shared photos of Gomez but declined to comment on whether she was getting surgery for work, citing Gomez herself. Health Struggles with Lupus as a reason that can lead to major changes in a person’s appearance. On Saturday, Gomez yet again took to the comments to express her disappointment.
“To be honest, I hate it,” only murders in the building the star wrote. “I was on stripes because of a flare up. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone.”
In response, Barrionuevo used Gomez’s comment to create a new video and apologized for any bad feelings caused by his original post. “I love you,” Barrionuevo said. “I truly meant the best, so I apologize if it offended you in any way.”
She also captioned the video, “Though I always try to proceed with civility and caution, I’m sorry this upset you (and I understand why it did). I decided to stop making videos like this last year because it can have a negative impact. This was never my intention.”
Luckily for PA, Gomez — who was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 as a result of the diagnosis — responded in the comments and reassured him that they were all doing well.
“I love you,” Gomez commented. “Not about you. I just get sad sometimes.”
Back in 2019, Gomez opened up about her struggles She has suffered a lot internally and externally since her diagnosis and gained weight as a side effect of the prescribed medications. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack healthy tissues and organs.
“I first experienced (body shaming) because of my weight fluctuations,” Gomez said in a previous podcast. “I have lupus and I deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I dealt with a lot of health issues, and that was the time for me when I really started paying more attention to the body image thing.”
More recently, she got viral on social media to respond to internet bullies who mocked her appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes.
“I gain a lot of water weight, and that’s normal, and then when I come off of it, I lose the weight,” Gomez said about the ups and downs she experiences while on the medication.
“I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re amazing,” she added. “And yes, we all have days when maybe we feel worthless, but I like to be healthy and take care of myself and my medications are important, and I believe they’re what helps me.”
