A 24-year-old student, Nitin Gudalod, despite living in a hostel with 75 kg shed-160 kg to 85 kg in a year with resources. Coach Dr. Directed by Neelima Katti, her disciplined routine, boiled chicken food, and structured workouts helped them to cross the failures and change their lifestyle continuously.

Let’s be honest – it is difficult to lose weight. For many people, it is not just about leaving junk food or killing gym a few times a week. It is a daily piece, full of self-doubt, failures and slow progress that can test your patience and nothing else. And when you are starting at 160 kg, it is not just difficult – it can feel almost impossible.
It was a reality for Nitin Gudalod, a young student living in a hostel, who was struggling with basic things such as tying her shovel or walking at a short distance without feeling winding. “At that point, even small tasks dried me,” he remembers. “I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. I was just 24 years old, but I felt very big. I knew it was now or never.”
After years of unsuccessful fad diet, low energy and growing disappointment, Nitin finally, a coach of FITTR, Dr. Neelima found the correct guidance in Katti. This was followed by a notable 12-month journey, full of learning, sacrifice and discipline-and the results speak for themselves: a surprisingly fall from 160 kg to 85 kg.

“It was not just a diet – it was a lifestyle overhaul”

Nitin’s journey in the gym did not begin – it began with a jump of belief. “When I first spoke to Dr. Neelima, I still suspected,” he believes. “But he told me one thing that got stuck: you will reach there, but it will take time. Just follow me.”

That assurance started an entire innings – not only in food and exercise, but in mindset. Weekly check-in, real-time guidance, and continuous support from their coaches helped Nitin feel that it was not some crash courses in weight loss. It was about changing the way he lived, a habit at a time.
“I had tried to do everything earlier – just cutting the entire food groups alive on fruits and water, but nothing got stuck. I had lost 35 kg earlier, but it gave me the cost of my muscles, hair and energy. This time, the outlook was different. It was a practical, durable and conformity to my real life.”

Life in a hostel: boiled chicken and mekshift food

Living in a hostel added its own set of challenges. Nitin was to be creative with no kitchen access, and fucked food that rarely meets their nutritional needs. He says, “There was no non-veg in the dirt, so I will boil eggs and chicken in my room. I also immerse the chicken in mes gravy so that it will coordinate.”

Vegetables and fiber were another issue. Without a fridge, he had to buy small amounts of fresh vegetables every day and prepared the quick salad-the college classes as well as a time-consuming work. “After long lectures and studies, the food was prepared and the step count felt tired. But I did not want to give up.”

Structure on motivation

While the first a few kilos promoted him a morale, Nitin quickly felt that inspiration alone was not going to take him to his goal. “Inspiration fades. You get tired one day, or insist from classrooms – and suddenly, it seems right to leave your workouts. This is when discipline is handled.”

Nitin built a structured daily routine: get up early, prepare food, collide with the gym, walk, participate in lectures, and sleep on time. “I got control of these habits as non-conventional. It also helped me to focus better on academics.”
And then changes – lax fabrics, visible inch loss, and praise to colleagues. “Even those who had seen barely. It was encouraging. But more than anything, I felt proud to show myself every day.”

From bodyweight to strength training

Initially, Nitin clung to the basic bodyweight workout, especially his weight and limited experience. However, Dr. Under the guidance of Neelima, she gradually progressed for structured power training. “I went away from lifting 5 kg to 15 kg. I never thought I enjoy doing this work,” he says.

They trained in the morning when the hostel gym was empty, allowing them to focus. And since he knew that his day would be busy, he made a point to complete his daily step count quickly.

Practical Eating: Mess Food with Make Makeover

Unlike restrictive diet, Nitin’s nutrition plan was realistic. “My coach ensured that I used the foods that I was already reaching – such as bread, eggs, lentils, ripe rice, roti, buttermilk, nuts,” they say. The food was carefully measured, taking into account the macros. Even Mess Gravy – was usually written as unhealthy – became a strategic addition to make food more pleasant.

“I was not hungry at the moment. I was eating well – just cleverly. I learned how to balance protein, carbs and fat without fancy materials.”

Failure and roommate drama

Of course, no change story is complete without some obstacles. At the beginning of the journey, there was inconvenience to their roommates by boiling eggs and chicken in your hostel room. “They were right – the smell was an issue. I did not want to create a problem, so I moved to a new room. But one took 20-30 days.”

During that time, Nitin trusted vegetarian protein sources such as cheese and curd – adapting while on track. And there were also mental failures. “There were weeks where the weight scale refused to move. It was disappointing. I was doing everything right.”
Thankfully, his coach reminded him that Pragati does not always appear on a scale. “We began to focus on the level of win-energy on non-fame, better sleep, heavy lifting, and just feeling good. That change helped me stay in the game.”

One year: a lifetime change

The journey took 12 months – but it gave Nitin more than a new number on the scale. “This taught me patience, structure and self-confidence. I ignored all the bad habits and misinformation that I had collected over the years.”

Today, at 85 kg, he feels strong, more energetic and more confident than ever. And he has a clear message for anyone like he once did:

“Start simple. Stay consistent. Don’t overthink.”

“You don’t need a fancy kitchen or high-end supplement. Just build a routine around what you have. Start with what is available, and show every day. The progress may slow down, but it is real.”
