Singapore’s Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel has been declared the world’s best new skyscraper by The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.CTBUHThe 23-storey, 140-metre-high structure, located in the heart of Singapore’s prestigious shopping district, opened in June 2023. It has gained global recognition very quickly.
It is not the only tower in Asia to receive the recognition. Malaysia’s Petronas Towers was also awarded the title of “Global Icon”. Additionally, China’s Greenland Hangzhou Century Center was named Asia’s “Best Tall Building”.
Pan Pacific Orchard The hotel has been designed by Singapore-based Voha Architects. It opened as a hotel in Singapore in June 2023 as the brand’s flagship. However, the design is inspired by Singapore’s four natural elements – forest, beach, garden and cloud. This magnificent building has 347 rooms and suites.
The title was awarded after CTBUH, a US-based non-profit organization known for its research on sustainable urban design and skyscrapers, opened submissions for the awards in December 2023. The winners were announced during a conference held in London and Paris from 23 September. -27, 2024.
Pan Pacific Orchard is also known for integrating eco-friendly elements into its design. It features solar panels, rainwater harvesting for irrigation and an on-site biodigester to manage food waste. The hotel’s lush greenery is a testament to Singapore’s emphasis on sustainable development, with tall trees, gardens and pools framing the guests’ experience.
Each area of the hotel offers a unique experience – from the high-ceilinged lobby lined with tall trees to the sandy beach and winding pool.
