An 11 percent year-on-year decline in fuel costs helped offset the surge in food costs, the report said.

In the case of the non-vegetarian thali, broiler prices have fallen by 9 per cent, accounting for half the cost of the thali, leading to a relatively slow increase in costs, the report said.

The price of a home-made non-veg thali in October stood at Rs 61.6, up from Rs 59.3 in the year-ago period and Rs 58.6 in the year-ago period, the report said.

It added that the prices of vegetables, which constitute 22 per cent of the cost of non-veg thali, also affected the total cost of non-veg thali.
