Ahead of the Diwali festival, a team of food safety officials in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district seized 300 kg of adulterated mawa (khoya) being transported from Ahmedabad, Gujarat to the district on Friday morning, a food official said. According to officers, Mawa was brought through bus parcel service. Based on the input received about the consignment, the team reached Dewas Gate bus stand of the district at around 7 am in the morning and recovered adulterated mawa.
District Food Safety Officer, Basant Dutt Sharma told ANI, “In view of the upcoming Diwali festival, we are working continuously to seize adulterated items. This morning, we found adulterated mawa (khoya) being carried and sold in the district. Got information about going.” At cheap rates, when I reached Dewas Gate bus stand at around 7 am today, I saw a suspect and as soon as I traced him, a total of 300 kg of mawa packed in 10 sacks was seized from the bus. District Food Officer Basant Dutt Sharma said, ‘ ’30 kg mawa was recovered from the spot.’
“The suspect has been identified as Praveen Jain, a resident of Vidyapati Nagar in the district. He neither has a food license nor is he known to have any shop in the area. We are interrogating him to find out why To whom does he supply mawa? “The mawa was brought from Ahmedabad in Gujarat and we are investigating the matter,” the officer said.
He said that further action in the matter will be taken accordingly.
