Phil Stout Copland is taking the “wheels of wellness” van around the Copland region

A charity is taking support services on the road with its “wheels of wellness” vans before the inauguration of a permanent site.

The ICAN organization helps on a series of fitness and good issues and is known as Hope Heaven to join several partner groups located in a former bank of the Whiteheven Town Center.

Prior to its inauguration at the end of this year, some activities have gone mobile in an attempt to help the “hard-to-wheel” areas and people.

Community engagement coordinator Phil Stout said it had already proved successful.

Several sessions have been held in Gosforth in recent weeks, including Ceskel, Calder Bridge and Lampluga to come elsewhere in Copland.

“It is all about getting out in the community and talking to people, especially in difficult places,” said Mr. Stout.

“We have done research around the transport link and lack of dynamics has been an issue because some people do not have buses or trains of their cars.

“We call the van ‘wheels of wellness’ and it is a lot of view. It attracts people’s attention and they come and ask what we are doing.”

‘Bus start’

Till now the sessions staged inside a village hall include mini-trampolining, chair-based activities and activities such as football.

Many of the participants were women between the ages of 60 to 80 years, who said that Mr. Stout said that he was eager to play football “as he was not allowed in school years ago”.

Six drop-in sessions focusing on mental health are also being held at the Senhouse Center in Whitehevan this month and before the inauguration of the Hope Heaven Hub on King Street.

Daily operations, many groups will offer mental health services with help on housing, money anxiety and addiction.

These include Cumbria, NorthUmerland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.

For the Access and Community Services, its associate director David Storm said: “This is a great beginning of the support of the well -being to offer not only in Whiteheven, but also to offer around the entire Copland region.

“People will start watching us popping in more places in the next few months.

“Look out for our specific green and purple hope haven birds, based on amazing guylmots in St. Beez Head.”
