More than 50 students of Narsi Monji Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) at Jadcherla fell ill due to food poisoning after consuming their campus food this week. Shortly after eating, many students began to experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever. Instead of transferring to hospitals, the affected students were treated by private doctors in the college campus. Many people received treatment by lie on the floor of the library and common room, increasing concerns about the situation.

The students alleged that the university management tried to cover the incident by not providing immediate and proper medical care. He also claimed that his previous complaints about the quality of poor food were ignored by the administration.

Jadcherla MLA P. Anirudh Reddy visited the institute after knowing about the incident and criticized the administration’s response. Expressing shock at the students being treated on the floor, they questioned the ability of medical personnel and lack of proper medical equipment.

“You are only trying to protect the university. Protect children. Immediately transfer them to hospitals. If something happens, then who will take responsibility? The MLA asked the university officials.

After their intervention, 15–20 students were finally transferred to hospitals in Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad for better treatment.

Students’ concerns on food security

Students claim that this is not a separate case. He has expressed concern about the poor quality of food and poor drinking water provided in the institute. Complaints about inferior grocery items, vegetables and cooking oils used in food preparation have allegedly become uncontrolled.
