World Whiskeys Awards 2025: The names of global winners spread over several categories were announced, including country-specifics. Find out which Indian whiskey won a big win.
World Whiskeys Awards, one of the most prestigious international spirit competitions, recently announced global winners in various categories for this year. In the Single Malt category, Glenlachi SpiSide Single Malt 12 years old was nominated the world for 2025. This unpapped, full-body scotch whiskey has 46% ABV (alcohol by volume) and does not have any additional color or cold filtration. The tasting notes of this feeling are described as a nose of “Amir Sultana, Flapzac, and milk chocolate, with acetone notes. On the palate, dried apples, gap chutney, orange zest, nutmeg, and cinnamon emerged, complement by vanilla custard.

Gleelachi whiskey was made using maltated barley from the More Farth coast and water drawn from the damheads two miles from the distillery. Vort (sugar liquid extracted from the mashing process) was fermented for 160 hours. The resulting washing was a traditional double distillation process. This was then racking in carefully prepared peep – distillery is very proud of the best quality wood sourcing for the same. According to Forbes to whiskey, non-Jalvayu-controlled warehouses were aged for 12 years. The Gleelachi Distillers Company is starring by the famous Master Distiller Billy Walker.
Best Indian Single Malt for 2025
The World Whiskeys Awards 2025 also announced taste and category winners in specific countries including India. Amrut Petade Single Malt Pipa Power was named Best Indian Single Malt (No Age Statement) for this year. The judges here mentioned: “To offer a lot, sweet to zesti fruits, vanilla and other confectionery, and some peat notes. The soil and crisp run well here.” In single malt category (Style: 12 years and less), Indri Founder Reserve Wine Pipa won gold from India at the age of 11. Here is described how its notes were described: “A complex array of black cherry, plum, date and prun notes was extended by oak notes on the nose, a jammy palate. Dark raismes, hedurs, hugger berries, figure, honey and stone fruits form, as well as with a sign of a struck match.”
