In a surprising turn of events, areas like Koida, Tensa, Kalta, Malda and Kashira in Sundargarh have experienced heavy frost, turning these temperate zones into winter destinations!
According to reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for the state, predicting severe cold wave and below average temperatures. While temperatures are expected to rise gradually from December 18, the initial impact of this unprecedented cold has been significant.
The rare frost has certainly created excitement in the state, much to the delight of travelers who are eager to experience the new winter attractions of Odisha. Similipal National Park, a favorite spot for trekking and wildlife lovers, has witnessed severe cold, with temperatures consistently below 3 degrees Celsius. This unusual phenomenon provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the breathtaking natural beauty of Odisha accompanied by frosty showers.
However, there are some people who are claiming that there has been snowfall in the state. This is not true. There is frost in Odisha at this time. In a tropical state like Odisha, which is located close to the coast and has a tropical monsoon climate, the chances of snowfall are quite low.
