Data analytics company Euromonitor International recently conducted a survey and according to it, only one Indian city Made it to the list of top 100 cities of the world. Can you guess which Indian city that is? Well, this is the capital of our country DelhiDelhi secured 74th position in the list. Interestingly, Paris retained the title of the world’s most attractive city for the fourth consecutive year. The report says Paris maintains unmatched global dominance in 2024 with more than 17 million arrivals.
Wonder what were the criteria on which the cities were evaluated? Well, there were 55 metrics spread across six key pillars: economic and business performance, tourism performance, tourism infrastructure, tourism policy and attractions, health and safety, and sustainability. Cities were evaluated after keeping all these things in mind. This time, the number of non-European cities making it to the top 100 list increased, with 9 European cities making it to the top 20. This was followed by the Asia-Pacific region with six cities. two in North America, one in the Middle East and Africa, and two in Australasia.
Worldwide, international arrivals are seen to grow by 19% in 2024 due to growth in the tourism sector. Europe remained the most visited region that year with 793 million international visits. Bangkok attracted 32 million people from around the world in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic international tourism levels in 2023.
