This has come to light in a recent study. Forbes The advisory reveals the safest and most unsafe cities for tourists. The study analysed a number of safety parameters while evaluating 60 international destinations, focusing on crime, quality of healthcare, infrastructure and risks related to natural disasters.
“The analysis focused solely on security aspects, taking into account a wide range of metrics,” Forbes said in its report. Travel Using safety ratings provided by the US State Department, crime risk per city by Numbeo, and individual safety risk data (how at risk citizens are from crime, violence, terrorist threats, natural disasters and economic vulnerabilities) obtained by The Economist, the research compared 60 destinations around the world.”
After a thorough study, the research determined safety scores from 0-100. Here lower scores indicate higher safety levels. Singapore’s exceptional performance in every respect has made it the safest city for all tourists. This performance was mainly attributed to the lowest risk of natural disasters and the second lowest risk to health and infrastructure. The healthcare system, which is known for its efficiency and quality, also played a key role in its safety rating.
Singapore is followed by Tokyo in Japan and Toronto in Canada. On the other hand, Caracas in Venezuela scored 100 out of 100, making it the riskiest place for tourists. Many places in Asia also had high scores. For example, Karachi in Pakistan is the second least safe city for tourists with a score of 93.12, and Yangon in Burma ranks third with a measured risk of 91.67 out of 100.
Europe, on the other hand, is not considered a dangerous destination at all. Some of the destinations on the list include Milan in Italy at 26th place, Rome at 28th place. Paris is at 31st place. However, other European cities such as Zurich, Copenhagen and Amsterdam have been considered the safest in the world.
