Story of real-life weight loss: Born with Cerebral Palsy, Ishank Gupta 25, who is now a video editor, was always called “Skinny Gai”-not from the friend, but by default. Growing up, building muscles or gaining strength seemed like a far-off dream. But in 2019, Ishank decided that he was limited by labels or expectations. He started in the gym, began with basic exercises that felt like a survival drill compared to workouts. “Squats and dedalifts felt like death experiences,” he shared.
The Big Turning Point came in April 2023, when he joined the creed. Then his life takes a big turn. Structured workouts, top-tier equipment and high-energy environment pushed them that was required to take them seriously. He was not just working – he was training with purpose.
“Now I’m building a machine,” he proudly says. “More strength, more confidence – and yes, too much protein joy.”
From struggling to lifting his weight, one now lifts up and feels invincible. But how did he make this change? In a conversation with now, he shares all about his journey – from his greatest challenges to source of inspiration.
What did you inspire to start this trip?
“For me, it was ambition,” said Ishank. He never admitted that cerebral palsy means that he cannot be strong – this means that he will have to work hard for it. And he was ready for that challenge.
He always praised bodybuilders, not only for their muscles but also for their discipline and attention. One day, instead of praising them from far away, he decided to jump and try it himself. “Every lift, every drop of sweat brought me closer, which I wanted to be,” he said.
Weight: Before and after change
“When I started, I was 57 kg – your classic lean man with big dreams than my biceps,” he shared. Today, he is filled with 68 kg -Strongger, Fitter, and determination.
“It’s not just about the number,” he says. “It’s about how I feel. And I feel powerful.”
How long did you take to change yourself?
Ishank’s change took four years, but he never considered it like a race. For him, fitness is a lifestyle, not a time limit. “Every workout, every meal, every representative – all this was part of the journey,” he shares.
The real success, according to him, was not in weight gain or muscle, but how they fell in love with this process.
The biggest challenges were faced on the way
“Hard days? Oh, there were many,” they say. There were times when Prerna disappeared, when a missed gym session turned into something. Then there were people staring at them – used to look at their feet, were uncertain why someone like him was in the gym.
First, it impressed him. But soon, he learned to ignore the stars and focus on his goal. “I was not there for them. I was there for myself,” he says firmly. Now, the gym looks like a home.
How did you be inspired during your weight loss trip?
For Ishank, inspiration was not always – but discipline. “You can’t rely on feeling inspired every day. But discipline? It still shows when you don’t feel so,” they say.
In difficult days, he turned to Hrithik Roshan’s gym inspiration video. He said, “I got a huge boost by pushing him through my own struggles.” “If he can do this, I can do it.”
In addition, keeping an eye on their own progress helped. Every time he used to pick up heavily or do a difficult exercise, he reminded himself how far he would come.
Following diet and exercise diet during change
“I am not a person who follows a strict diet,” Ishank said. He is a vegetarian, which makes enough protein a little harder, but he keeps his food clean. No smoking, no alcohol – and it created a big difference alone.
When it comes to workouts, however, he goes into everyone. He works hard, breaks down, and has his favorite workout style? German volume training. “Ten sets of ten representatives. It’s intense. You think you are through a war – but I love it,” they say.
Did you face any failure, and if yes, how did you overcome them?
Yes, a lot. There were days when he left the workout and felt guilty. Sometimes, progress felt at a slow pace, and self-doubt decreased. Stars, also, were difficult to ignore in the beginning.
But Ishank did not allow him to stop the failures. If he missed a session, he made the next one count even more. If the results were slow, he reminded himself that continuity always defeats speed.
And as for wires? “I let my lifts talk,” he smiles. “Now, those people who stared? They come to me for fitness tips.”
What do you have the advice for others who want to hurt a uniform change journey?
“Start. Just start,” he says. Waiting for the right moment or ideal conditions only delays progress. The gym does not care where you come from – it just tries to try.
“Stay continuously. Learn from mistakes. And even when you don’t feel like showing, show it anyway. This is where magic occurs,” they say.
And most importantly, enjoy the journey. “Once you fall in love with this process, the results will come on your own.”
How has your life changed since achieving your weight loss goals?
“Everything has changed,” says Ishank. How he walks how he feels mentally, the difference is night and day.
He feels more confident, more disciplined and more concentrated in every part of life. “The gym is the place where I changed, not only physically but also mentally,” they say.
People around him notice the change. Opportunities have opened, and he takes himself with a sense of pride that he did not do before. “Earlier, people used to stare at my feet with sympathy. Now? They stare at my biceps with jealousy,” he said.
