A Swiggy delivery agent has gone viral on social media after sharing the challenges of the job. As more people are turning to online food delivery, many are turning to popular apps to deliver food. In a viral Instagram clip, which has now been viewed over 2.8 million times, the agent (@amriithah) discusses the “hardest and most hated part” of the job – collecting orders from the mall. Since many food shops operate from large malls, delivery agents have to visit these premises frequently. The agent mentioned visiting “Asia’s second largest mall for taking general orders”, referring to Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
According to the post, delivery agents are paid Rs 25 for 5 km and will have to park their vehicles outside the mall. They do not receive any “extra payment” for the time and effort required to collect orders from within the “crowded” mall.
In the caption, the agent explains, “We have to park our vehicle (there are separate parking slots) and take the service lift, go to the food court, and walk to the store from where we received the order. There is no extra charge on these orders.” Allowance for. We lose about 10-20 minutes in collecting these orders, and after collecting them, we have to use the common exit, where it is usually crowded.”

The agent further suggests changes: “Why can’t the malls aggregate orders at a lower level to make our job easier? Or why aren’t we being paid extra?”

NDTV contacted Swiggy for comment, but the company is yet to comment on the matter.
