According to reports, low-cost carrier Air India Express has announced a huge increase in the number of flights it will operate from north-eastern cities Guwahati, Imphal and Agartala during winter.

Guwahati is the main focus of this development. Weekly flights will increase to a total of 106 – a significant increase from the 63 flights provided last winter. Direct flights to eight major cities – Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur and Agartala are part of the updated itinerary. The airline also provides one-stop service to eighteen domestic and six foreign destinations.
The airline has also expanded its operations in Imphal, as it is now offering a total of 34 weekly flights compared to only 14 during the last winter. Agartala will now operate 21 weekly flights, up from 14. These cities are directly connected to Kolkata and Guwahati, with one-stop connectivity to 11 additional domestic destinations.
