The Haryana section of the much awaited Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway has been opened for traffic.

The newly inaugurated expressway, an important link of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra corridor, promises to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Katra. You can now travel via the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, a distance of 135 kilometers to the Punjab border in Kaithal district. According to reports, built through Haryana’s Jhajjar district, the expressway has strong guardrails on both sides to prevent animals from wandering on the road, as well as extensive greenery on the central divider. It is also access controlled with four lanes designed for high-speed travel. The speed limit has been set at 120 km/hr for light vehicles and 80 km/hr for heavy vehicles.

This stretch of highway also has a modern toll collection system, eliminating booths to streamline the payment process. Fountains are integrated into the design, serving both aesthetic purposes and irrigation for plants along the route. The highway accommodates both light and heavy motor vehicles, although motorcycles and auto-rickshaws are prohibited. To ensure safe and informed travel, clear signs have been strategically placed, indicating restrictions and providing updates every 100 metres.

Toll rates for KMP-Kaithal section

Light motor vehicles (cars, jeeps): ₹240 for one-way journey and ₹360 for round trip.

Light Commercial Vehicles: ₹385 for one way and ₹580 for return journey.
Two-axle buses and trucks: ₹805 for a single journey and ₹1,210 for a round trip.
Three-axle commercial vehicles: ₹880 for one way and ₹1,320 for both directions.

Once fully operational, the Delhi-Katra Expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time. This journey extended for approximately 669 kilometers Delhi to Katra It will take approximately six hours, allowing passengers to depart from Delhi at 6 am and reach Katra by noon. The expressway will provide faster access to Amritsar, reducing the travel time from Delhi to just four hours.
