Pineapple on pizza, anyone? Known as Hawaiian pizza, the dish has garnered a loyal fan base due to its contrasting flavors – sweet pineapple and salty ham. Meanwhile, some people argue that fruit is not worth putting on pizza. You may like it, you may hate it. But one thing is for sure, you can’t ignore it. But why are we suddenly talking about pineapple on pizza? Well, a Norwich-based pizzeria is charging customers a whopping sum of £100 (Rs 10,548) for a standard Hawaiian pizza. Reason? Preventing foodies from ordering this dish.

According to a report in the New York Post, Lupa Pizza has loudly announced its dislike of pineapple pizza through a creative culinary stunt. The owner has added a whopping £100 on online delivery app Deliveroo. “Yes, you can get it for £100. Order champagne too! Go ahead, monster!” reads the cheeky menu description.
“I say no to pineapple,” Lupa’s head chef Quinn Gianoran told CNN Travel.
He said Hawaiian pizza combines “Chinese sweet and sour flavors with a traditional Italian product.” Quinn has rightly called this dish “controversial” because “people really love it and people hate it.” As far as the pizzeria is concerned, the chef confirmed that they were just “taking a stance.”
Quinn Gianoran continued that although he loves pina colada, pineapple on pizza is something he would “never” eat. He said, “I’d rather plant strawberries on one than that tropical threat.”
Expressing a similar sentiment, Lupa’s co-owner Francis Woolf said, “I absolutely hate pineapple on pizza.”
