Have you ever heard of wood flavored ice cream? Recently, a digital creator demonstrated the detailed process of preparing Western Redcedar ice cream. FYI: Western Redcedar is a type of conifer tree. The clip posted on Instagram begins with the digital creator saying, “Go back to simmering wood chunks in a pot of cream because I can’t stop making wood-flavored ice cream.” The man continues, “After chopping, roasting, pouring and straining it is now ready to be used as an ice cream base.” Next, the maker uses a cold smoker to create cedar-smoked chocolate. Next, he makes a silicone mold of some Western Redcedar leaves and cones. He tempers the smoked chocolate and pours it into molds resulting in leaf and cone-shaped chocolate chips.

The final step involves churning the cedar wood ice cream and adding chocolate, cones and leaves. The chef also created a bowl and spoon from Western Redcedar wood for tasting the ice cream. Once the preparations are complete, he takes a bite of the sweet dish. His feedback is invaluable. “Wow, it tastes like a sauna. It’s really interesting, really good,” he says before advising viewers to try it.

“Which flavor did you get?: Table,” commented another.
One user said, “Brother is going to lose his mind when he hears about Maple.”
Here’s what this person suggests, “Instead of boiling the wood in cream, try using a hot ultrasonic cleaner. The vibrations of the sonicator better simulate the aging of wood flavors in a barrel than in a boiling can.
“You have to convince me you’re not just 4 beavers in a Patagonia jacket,” one user wrote.
“I seriously have to try this,” said one foodie.
