Renowned hepatologist Dr Cyriac AB Phillips has criticized devotees who enthusiastically drink water flowing from an air conditioner vent at a temple in Vrindavan, believing it to be ‘charan amrit’ – a revered donation of sacred water. The video – shared widely on social media – shows many believers collecting water with their hands or using cups, inspired by the belief that it is blessed.
According to Dr. Phillips, the condensed water formed due to high moisture content in the air is a breeding ground for a variety of infections, including deadly E. coli bacteria, which can cause serious health problems.
