To improve the travel experience for all flight passengers, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)DGCA) has made it mandatory for airlines to provide refreshments in case of delays. According to the new update, if a flight is delayed by 2-4 hours then airlines will have to provide beverages and snacks to the passengers. However, if flights are delayed by more than four hours, passengers must be provided with food.
In a post on Twitter, the agency wrote, “As per Para 3.8.1(a) of CAR Section 3, Series M Part IV issued by DGCA, airlines have been advised To provide facilities to passengers during flight delays. These measures are designed to prioritize passenger convenience during unexpected disruptions.
DGCA further wrote, “These provisions are aimed at enhancing the passenger experience while meeting their basic needs during extended waiting times.”
The advisory was issued in response to delays in the NCR region due to low visibility. The ministry said the aim is to improve the overall experience of passengers by meeting their basic needs during long waits.
In recognition of this, another passenger-friendly precaution has been developed by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). It now allows seamless re-entry of passengers stranded in aircraft due to weather or technical delays.
